Position Information

Tumut High School (enrolment 550 students, including approximate 80 Aboriginal students) draws students from within the town and from surrounding localities. Tumut is a rural town on the southwest slopes of New South Wales approximately 1 hour form Wagga. The school provides many opportunities for students to develop a range of skills through a variety of quality educational and cocurricular activities. It is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school, where students are encouraged to respect others as they work cooperatively in meeting the school's high expectations. The school has strong partnerships with the local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group, Technical and Further Education (TAFE), local public schools and the local community.

Selection Criteria

Approval to teach library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the Department of Education , with demonstrated capacity to effectively manage the resources of a school library. Please Note If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Librarian qualifications.

  2. Capacity to plan and deliver creative, innovative and flexible opportunities for students to develop the ability to find and critically evaluate quality information.
  3. Highly developed communication, organisation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and the school community, and contribute positively to the whole school culture are all important.


An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
