Job Description

The City of Swan is the largest local government area within metropolitan Perth, with a unique urban growth profile. We are committed to seeking the right people and currently offer an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic professional to progress their career in Strategic Planning.

Working in our Local Area Planning and Policy team, the position is responsible for assisting in the development of Local Area Plans, preparing planning policies and undertaking Structure Plan assessments and other major urban growth projects. The role involves project management, report writing, stakeholder engagement, and provision of specialist advice as it relates to the planning and development of the City.

Selection Criteria: The qualifications and key skills required for your success in this role will include -

  • Tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or similar related discipline;
  • An understanding of how infrastructure provision, housing, demographic change, the economy, transport, social development, facility planning and community engagement interplay in a strategic land use planning environment;
  • Relevant Statutory and/or Strategic planning experience;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an exceptional ability to work as part of an integrated team;
  • Demonstrated project management, negotiation, influencing and relationship management skills;
  • Sound organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines and;
  • Excellent report writing and analytical skills.

The salary for this position will be from $81,628.84 to $95,422.60 per annum, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
