The Opportunity

Kempsey Shire Council is currently seeking a Community Projects Officer - Engagement to provide support and delivery of community engagement planning, implementation and evaluation for the organisation.

To be successful in this role, you should hold tertiary qualifications in Community Development, Public Relations, Social Science or other relevant field; experience in relevant community development or engagement work; and experience in developing, monitoring and implementing community engagement plans and processes. Previous experience working with Aboriginal communities in a culturally competent manner will be highly regarded.

Please note there is a requirement for the successful candidate to provide a copy of a current National Police Check and Working with Children Check prior to commencement in this role.

Key accountabilities include

• Support the implementation of Council’s Community Engagement Strategy and toolkit
• Work with internal teams to plan, design and deliver on engagement activities
• Establish and maintain a regular engagement calendar and stakeholder databases
• Assist in developing and maintaining content on Council’s digital engagement platform
• Participate in community events and activities
