FAR NORTH QUEENSLAND... There’s no place like it! We invite applications from dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated primary teachers with an interest in joining our district relief pools across the region. District Relief Teachers (DRT's) provide internal relief to their cluster of schools. This varied role will suit experienced teachers who are comfortable working with students across all primary years from Prep to Year Six including some multi-age classes. DRT roles are currently available across the region in the Cairns & Coastal, Cassowary Coast, Mossman Port Douglas, Cape York and Torres Strait geographic areas.

As a District Relief Teacher (DRT) you will be allocated a base school, and will be available to cover unexpected short-term absences (generally up to one term in duration) at schools within the cluster. The DRT is a flexible position that can change from day to day to meet the needs of the individual schools in the cluster and teachers in this role must be willing to teach across all primary year levels and subjects as required.

DRT roles are currently available across the region in the Cairns & Coastal, Cassowary Coast, Mossman Port Douglas, Cape York and Torres Strait geographic areas based in the following schools.

  • CAIRNS & COASTAL - Balaclava SS, Parramatta SS
  • CASSOWARY COAST - Goondi SS, Tully State School
  • CAPE YORK - Cooktown SS
  • MOSSMAN & BEYOND - Port Douglas SS
  • TORRES STRAIT - Horn Island (Outer Islands Cluster)
