Our City Works team is currently looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Technical Officer Drainage & Maintenance. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical support and advice on all stormwater drainage maintenance and construction, as well as establishing and maintaining stormwater drainage maintenance and construction works, systems and standards with the City Works team.

The position is accountable for:

  • Assisting with the management, coordination, work scheduling & inspection of stormwater drainage maintenance and construction works to ensure efficient running of both Proactive and Reactive operations to approved Service level agreements via combination of inhouse and subcontractor teams.
  • Management of all specialist suppliers & subcontractors including pump stations
  • Preparing reports on drainage maintenance and construction work including issues, Asset Gap Analysis ,trends, faults, failures, asset condition, recommended improvements, and performance against daily and periodic work schedules, including input to daily work team review meetings.
  • Assisting with site inspections, auditing, and quality assurance to assist with embedding the City’s safe work methodologies and associated maintenance and construction work standards in the field;
  • Assist in the issuing of services, trench support, confirmed space and gas detection Permits to work and involvement in gap analysis reviews and associated actions.

To be successful you will have:

  • Diploma of Civil Engineering / Construction or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of civil and stormwater drainage maintenance/ construction experience, and extensive knowledge of municipal stormwater drainage systems. Knowledge of city assets and systems desirable
  • Working Knowledge of Local Government Services, Functions & Acts.
  • Working Knowledge of IT Systems to include One Council, Smart Sheet, Grundfos & MS Office Suite
  • Experience in contract/ contractor management and administration.
  • Current unrestricted “C” class national driver’s licence.
  • Current White Card

This permanent full-time position attracts a salary range of Level 6 $82,167 - $88,884 depending on qualifications and experience. This position also includes the restricted private use of a Council Vehicle (contributory) and is located at the City’s Operations Centre, 93 Park Road, Mandurah.
