Details: The ACT Justice and Community Safety Directorate is calling for Expressions of Interest for appointment to the Firearms Advisory Committee (the Committee). Work of the Committee - The role of the Committee is to provide advice to the Minister for Police and Emergency Services on:
(a) the operation of the Firearms Act 1996, regulations made under the Firearms Act 1996, and other related legislation, including making recommendations for improving their operation;
(b) Commonwealth, State and Territory firearms matters, including the National Firearms Agreement, to help inform the Minister’s position on national firearms issues; and
(c) other matters related to firearms referred to the Committee by the Minister.

Job Description:
The Committee consists of a maximum of 10 members. Members will be appointed for a period of three years and will be expected to meet at least twice a year. Members are not remunerated for their work on the Committee. Members will be asked to sign a code of conduct and conflict of interest declaration.
