The college is seeking to appoint a committed and effective leader to join our senior leadership team in the role of Program Coordinator – Health and Physical Education. The successful applicant will be an educational leader who is dynamic, strategic, innovative and proactive. They will have a capacity to develop effective programs and manage processes where evidence based decision making is standard practice and will possess an ability to build capacity in their staff using the tools of classroom observation which is a guiding philosophy of the schools vision and culture.

The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong and sustainable partnerships. The successful applicant will work to develop the professional practice of staff in all contexts of health and physical education and will possess flexibility and an ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team environment. Using effective curriculum planning and a distributive leadership model as the basis for quality instruction the successful applicant will lead their team in the development and implementation of Western Australian Health and Physical Education curriculum.

They will be responsible for improving learning outcomes through quality curriculum, including the incorporation of literacy, numeracy and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) capabilities. A fundamental aspect of this role will be to support the development of innovative classroom practices and provide leadership to academic staff in providing integrated, personalised, authentic and relevant learning experiences for students.

The Program Coordinator will bring with them a passion for student achievement, innovative thinking and ability to work in a fast paced environment. They will be a highly skilled classroom teacher who leads by example as there is a requirement to undertake a 0.4 FTE teaching load in their area of expertise.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
  • obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
