The Opportunity

The ESO position is an exciting opportunity to be part of TAFE NSW. The Education Support Officer (ESO) is responsible for a range of activities, which directly and indirectly supports learning and enhances the education process.The Education Support Officer is responsible for a range of activities, which directly and indirectly supports learning and enhances the education process for students enrolled at TAFE NSW.

The Role

The position undertakes a range of processes to support the Building and Architecture Team. This may include learner support, assisting with accessing learning materials and virtual sessions, preparatory sessions for students new to learning, supporting applications for specialised learner support, assisting with Individual Training Plans, assisting students to maintain accurate enrolment status, and the coordination of some student placements

Reporting to the Head Teacher, this position:

  • Provides support to students to carry out tasks and understand their learning materials and concepts
  • Supports Teachers and Head Teachers in meeting compliance functions for TAFE NSW
  • Follow up with students to encourage ongoing engagement and motivate and encourage the students to complete their tasks and activities
  • Supplement the teaching activities by providing follow-up instruction as provided by the teacher and opportunities to practice skills

Note: This role does not teach or prepare lessons or resources and does not deliver training nor undertake assessment.

If you have (essential requirements)….

  • Certificate IV in Building/ Building Design (or a related field) or higher level qualification
  • Minimum two (2) years industry experience (gained in the last 18 months)
  • Appropriate subject knowledge, skills and vocational qualifications as determined by the employer and a commitment to maintain technical currency.
  • Ability to understand the content of the learning materials and the processes used in the discipline
  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to be proactive and show initiative and ability to explain ideas in a clear and concise manner
  • Commitment and ability to support learning in an adult environment and a demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage students
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and to provide quality customer service as part of a broader team
    Skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies
