Are you a current or aspiring leader looking to take the next step in your leadership journey? The North Queensland Region is seeking expressions of interest for short-term relieving opportunities in 2021 and 2022. North Queensland is a diverse geographical region, offering a range of experiences in unique and spectacular locations. As a Principal in the North Queensland Region, you will deliver the vision of the department. To achieve this, you will improve the educational outcomes of students in their schools by developing the quality of teaching and learning and nurturing positive relationships between students, teachers, the community and stakeholders.

This temporary vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest and accordingly, any appointment (and extension to this appointment) will not extend beyond 12 months.

The NQ Aspirant School Leader pool enables the region to identify, prepare and develop aspiring Principals. Shortlisting and panel interview both form part of this EOI recruitment and selection process. All applicants will be provided feedback on their written application and/or interview, enabling them to focus attention on highlighted areas for development and leadership capability opportunities.

Aspirants in the pool will be considered for short-term relieving opportunities (6 weeks to 6 months, with the possibility of extension) in NQR for the following 12 month period.

Please note: Aspirants in the pool are required to be available for leadership development and short-term relieving opportunities. Due to this, all applicants are required to have line manager endorsement prior to applying for the pool.

  • A maximum 2-3 page resume including contact details for 2 referees (one of whom should be your current supervisor)
  • A maximum 2 page written response outlining your suitability for the role referring to the key capabilities 1-4 under the “How you will be assessed” section in the attached role description.
  • Leadership development reflection statement from aspirants who have been in the pool for 12 months.
  • Responses to the online questionnaire, when answering which level you'd like to be assessed for, please refer to the attached "NQR362876_21E - NQ Schools and Principal Levels" below.
