We are seeking a collaborative and proactive team member who will eagerly take on the leadership challenges of a District High School, where there are ample opportunities to engage in a range of leadership experiences that will extend you professionally.

We need a leader who can think outside the box to provide a range of relevant and exciting experiences for our students. A strong level of curriculum knowledge and classroom best practice is essential to ensure we continue to provide a high quality education. Knowledge and experience in Explicit Instruction and Growth Mindset is desirable, as it is in all functions of SIS time-tabling, SIRS, SAIS, Reporting to Parents and the NAPLAN and OLNA dashboard.

You will be required you to engage and build productive and positive working relationships with students, parents and colleagues to strive towards achieving our vision and values as outlined in our ‘Business Plan 2021-2023’ to improve the outcomes of all students.

The Associate Principal will lead a number of portfolios which may include: attendance, student leadership, the management of student behaviour and system testing. However, these can be negotiated based on the successful applicant’s strengths or areas of interest, as can the management of either primary or secondary staff.

We have a beautiful learning environment that instils a sense of ownership from our staff and students. CDHS is situated in the Wheatbelt, a short 160km east of Perth and 60km east of Northam. Cunderdin is a small vibrant community with great amenities that provides opportunities for individuals to experience all that country life has to offer or alternatively it is a short one and a half hour drive back to Perth if you wish.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
    High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

Employees will be required to:

  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
  • Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.


Employees will be required to:

  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
