Strategically located approximately 90mins north of Townsville in North Queensland, Hinchinbrook is the gateway to Queensland's stunning wet tropics. The region is encompassed by ancient tropical rainforest, rugged tropical islands, the Great Barrier Reef and is the departure point for the iconic Hinchinbrook Island. The region covers 2,800 sqkm, is home to nearly 11,000 residents and has a strong economic base built on tourism, sugar cane farming and broader mixed agriculture.
You will have frontline strategic and operational responsibility for all aspects of the Finance Department including asset accounting, revenue, rates, procurement, budget management and financial accounting. You will also provide key support to the Director Corporate and Financial Services across cultural and business transformation initiatives while ensuring the integrity of financial systems and information and 100% compliance with all legislative requirements.
Tertiary qualified in an accounting/finance discipline, you will have a strong finance management track record with strategic and operational experience across all key touch points including budgets and forecasting, procurement, audit and risk, and strategic planning. Equally important will be the ability and drive to lead and inspire your own teams in a collaborative, outcome-focused environment. Local Government experience is essential to understand the political nuances within this portfolio.
