Waroona District High School (DHS) is seeking to establish a pool of English Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year.
Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.
Waroona DHS is seeking enthusiastic, innovative and progressive teachers of lower secondary (Year 8 to 10) English.
The successful applicants will ideally have experience; possessing a repertoire of strategies that apply skills, knowledge and understanding to improve literacy outcomes for all students.
For the suitable candidates, the expectation is that you will apply your excellent instructional strategies and strong curriculum knowledge to improve outcomes for our students.
This includes knowledge and practice of using diagnostic assessment, systemic assessments such as National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) and development of appropriate personalised learning plans for students.
Experience teaching senior secondary General and Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) courses and the ability to prepare students in lower school through backward mapping of curriculum and literacy skills is highly desirable for the lower secondary English teaching component.
To be successful in this role, you should be a student and relationship focused teacher who is highly motivated, innovative and able to work effectively in a team environment, as well as possessing an engaging and energetic teaching style.
You will reflect and assess the effectiveness of teaching practices using a variety of methods suited to the learning environment and the school.
The expectations are about promoting an environment of active and positive learning, and providing educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve success.
Experience differentiating curriculum and proven outcomes catering to students with educational need is ideal. An ability and the qualifications to teach across other learning areas would also be highly desirable.
Waroona DHS has approximately 250 students from K to Year 10. We are a Positive Behaviour Support school prioritising whole school collaboration, engaging staff, students and parents in the development and evolution of shared expectations.
The suitable applicants will use instructional classroom management strategies for effective classroom behaviours, which facilitate learning.
This focus on social and emotional development is crucial to the success of the delivery of the curriculum.
The teaching expectation is every teacher is delivering explicit teaching strategies and utilising formative assessment and data analysis to provide quality and effective teaching practices that target students’ needs.
