Ocean Reef Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint an inspirational Marine Specialist Science Teacher to further develop a culture of excellence in teaching and learning in our Science Learning Area.

The successful applicant will ideally have experience teaching Science across Years 7 to 12, with the ability to teach ATAR Marine and Maritime Studies. The Specialist Marine Program provides students in Years 7 to 10 with a fantastic opportunity to study a variety of marine based topics including, but not limited to: Marine Biology, Oceanography, Aquaculture, Boating and Snorkelling.

The course aims to combine theoretical and practical programs in marine studies to extend and enrich the students.

The successful applicant should have effective interpersonal skills as you work collaboratively with the Science team and lead within the Specialist Marine Program.

You should engage in reflective practice, have a strong evidence-based teaching approach and be committed to Ocean Reef SHS whole-school pedagogical approaches.

Effective classroom management, the ability to differentiate curriculum to cater for individual student needs and promote an environment of active and positive learning are also a strong focus for the position.

Relevant qualifications to deliver all aspects of the Specialist Marine teaching and learning program will be highly desirable.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment.

  • Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy

  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
  • Be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
