Gladys Newton School is seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistants – Special Needs for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2022.
Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year, up to the end of Term 3, 2022.
As an Education Assistant – Special Needs at Gladys Newton you will become part of a committed and dedicated team of professionals which includes Administration, Teachers, Education Assistants, Therapists and other agency personnel.
All of whom strive to deliver outstanding educational programs and provide a high level of care for all students. Collegial support is part of our school ethos and ensures that all staff can achieve professional goals.

Gladys Newton is a school for students with moderate to severe disabilities, ages from 4 to 18 years; some students have an additional physical disability.

The predominant disability is “Autism” but we also have a number of students with “Down Syndrome” and other disorders. A small percentage of our students have a physical disability in addition to their intellectual disability.

Education Assistants working with Kindergarten students may be required to have, or be actively
working towards, a Certificate lll in Education Support (or approved equivalent) in order to meet the educator-to-student ratio outlined in the National Quality Standard for Early Childhood Education and Care.
Approved equivalent qualifications are published by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority.
