Emerald State High School are now accepting applications for a highly motivated and innovative Head of Department - Student Services to join their team on a temporary, part-time basis (0.2 FTE). Working 10 hours per fortnight, the duration of this vacancy is from 24 January 2022 to 09 December 2022 unless otherwise determined.

About the school

Emerald State High School caters to students from Years 7 to 12, and also provides facilities for Special Education students via the Special Education Program attached to the school campus. Your role

As the Head of Department - Student Services you will have the responsibility for, but not limited to the following:

  • Provide leadership and guidance for the implementation of innovative measures aimed at improving student learning outcomes and attendance in schools where a significant percentage of students may have a disadvantaged background, ensuring quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Provide management and engagement strategies including induction activities of new arrivals, and advise on specific academic, social and emotional needs of new arrivals.
  • Monitor students' individual performance and behaviour and develop and implement intervention strategies where necessary.
  • Develop and implement community engagement strategies and programs
  • Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the school department to achieve goals.

The role will involve acting behind the current HoD Student Servces for one day a week.

A mandatory requirement of this role is:

  • Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland. 
  • Teachers working in Education and Care Services (including State Delivered Kindergarten programs) require an exemption card issued by Blue Card Services.
