Job Description

This position leads the City’s Urban & Regional Development Branch which includes the teams of Town Planning, Building Surveying, Development Compliance and Ranger Services, ensuring the City’s obligations and functions are carried out in a professional and efficient manner.

Key accountabilities:

  • Provide strategic and effective leadership and management for the Urban & Regional Development branch.
  • Provide high level advocacy with State Government agencies and proponents in the development of strategies, plans and policies for the Greater Geraldton region.
  • Review complex town planning applications in accordance with the provisions of the Local Planning Schemes and policies.
  • Coordinate the day to day management of the Urban and Regional Development Branch.

Position requirements:

The successful applicant will have a Degree in Town Planning or related field and experience in a management position. Additionally, extensive experience working with government agencies, private consultants, and community are key requirements of the position.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

This role is offered as a five (5) year fixed term contract. A salary package of up to $167,500 per annum will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
