About the Opportunity
Victoria Daly Regional Council is now looking for a full-time Council Maintenance Team Leader to join their team in Kalkarindji, NT.

You will be primarily responsible for leading the Council Works Team to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of recreational parks, streets, gardens, facilities and operations of minor civil works are met. You will also be responsible for the delivery of waste management services.

More specifically, your day-to-day duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Leading staff to ensure programs and services are delivered on time and within budget;
  • Providing leadership and support to the Council Works staff to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services are being met;
  • Creating, implementing and monitoring work plans for the Council Works area;
  • Ensuring the maintenance and construction at parks, road verges, airports, cemeteries and recreational areas throughout the Council; and
  • Preparing any required reports for the Council Services Manager

About You
To be successful as Kalkarindji's new Council Maintenance Team Leader you will have an MR License in conjunction with extensive supervisory experience in a relevant role. Prior experience working in a remote location or with Aboriginal people is also a necessity for the role. It is important to note that candidates who possess plant competencies or a certificate in Aerodrome maintenance and operations will be highly regarded, however these qualifications are not essential.

There are a number of competencies that would be desirable for the successful candidate to possess, including a Chemical Handling Certificate, a White Card, a First Aid Certificate and a Tertiary qualification or certificate in Parks & Gardens.

Importantly, you will possess patience and understanding combined with strong interpersonal communication skills.

You will also be willing and able to work and thrive within a local community.

Please Note: A current Driver's Licence and a criminal history check will be required prior to commencing in this role.
