Riverton Education Support Centre (ESC) is seeking three (3) Teacher - Education Support to join their friendly team.

We currently have the following positions available:

For Permanent tenure only

All positions will commence (Term 1, 2022)

Riverton ESC is seeking to employ enthusiastic, highly motivated, positive and knowledgeable Education Support teachers, for full-time permanent positions.

Riverton ESC caters for students ranging from Kindergarten to Year 6. The Primary School and the Education Support Centre both fall under Riverton Primary Campus.

We are an extremely inclusive environment where all staff members work together to provide an inclusive environment for all students, at the Campus and this makes us unique. Knowledge of our school systems and Campus priorities, as well as our strategic directions within our Business Plan are imperative.

All students at the centre have additional learning needs and the curriculum and environment is adapted to meet the needs of the individual.

All students require either extensive or substantial adaptations to access the curriculum and Individual Education Plans are developed collaboratively with service providers, parents and therapists.

The successful applicants should ideally display a high level of interpersonal and communication skills to enable them to work collaboratively with all staff members from the mainstream and the ESC to deliver individually tailored programmes that meet the needs of all students.

The successful applicants should also ideally be able to display competency in leading and developing a team.

The applicant will develop and maintain a positive working environment within their classroom and manage their team using our Performance Development and Management Policy.

Riverton ESC has small class sizes with a high student staff ratio, which makes explicit teaching possible.

The successful applicants will be able to develop, implement and rigorously assess programs relevant to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectual Disability (ID) and students who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices.

The applicant will be highly skilled in effective teaching methods whilst successfully incorporating Information Computer Technology (ICT) in all learning programs.

It would be highly desirable if the applicants display competency in developing scaffolded strategies, use formative and summative assessment tools, and have a sound understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum, Abilities Based Learning Education Western Australia (ABLESWA) and Special Education Needs (SEN) reporting process.

The applicant should have an understanding of Positive Behaviour Strategies, be able to the implement these strategies and have the ability to collect and analyse data to make positive behavioural changes to individuals.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment.

This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • hold full, non-practising or provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full, non-practising or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
