About the Position

Gold Coast Libraries provide a large range of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) services to the community and Libraries staff, including:

  • public PC, Wi-Fi, and printing services;
  • digital online content such as e-books, newspapers, magazines, audiobooks, e-learning, research and local heritage resources;
  • supporting technologies such as RFID and other business management system technologies.

We are going through an exciting period of growth in Gold Coast Libraries as we begin delivering our 5-year Libraries ICT Roadmap, which outlines a substantial investment strategy to enhance and renew our ICT services.

The Libraries Technologies Senior Solutions Specialist is key to the success of the ICT Roadmap, providing specialist functional and technical leadership, advice and operational support for ICT services utilised within Gold Coast Libraries. The role is primarily responsible for the planning, prioritisation, and delivery of ICT system enhancements and technical operational support. This senior role will need to possess strong IT Change and Release Management skills, establish strong customer relationships and orchestrating the delivery of ICT services via a multi-provider environment.

We are open 7 days a week and this position is a 9-day fortnight position working from Monday to Friday, with a fortnightly Rostered Day Off. It is a requirement of the role that you participate on an on-call roster outside of standard operating hours and on weekends for one week every 4 weeks on a rotational basis, for which you would be remunerated.

The current Library Services are located between the Northern, Central and Southern Regions. Initially, applicants will be based in our office located at Bundall, however you will be required to work at other locations and regions as required.

Key Deliverables of the Position

  • Establish and provide senior technical operational support services for Libraries ICT Systems
  • Provide functional and technical expert advice to Gold Coast Libraries and Corporate Projects
  • Lead Libraries ICT work streams in accordance with project outcomes
  • Ensure continued improvement of Libraries ICT services by establishing, planning, prioritising and coordinating the ME pipeline delivery.
  • Maintain strong positive relationships with customers by regularly engaging business stakeholders to understand their changing business needs and priorities.
  • Maintain strong positive relationships with internal & external suppliers through regular engagement.
  • Manage suppliers to agreed service levels and identify opportunities to leverage new technologies and releases from supplier product roadmaps.
  • Coordinate & contribute to the development of ICT plans, providing advice and input regarding both current and proposed operational improvements
  • Provide input and feedback for financial planning and budget management activities, including budget forecasting and the allocation of the Minor Enhancement budget.
  • Assist in delivering the Libraries IT Governance process to inform prioritisation, investment and scheduling decisions in alignment with the Corporate IT Governance Framework & associated processes.

About You

To be successful in the role, you will have a good mix of skills, technical aptitude and experience working within an IT Service Management function and/or working within a library service. You will require:

  • Bachelor’s degree Information Technology or Library and Information Management, and/or equivalent knowledge.
  • Experience establishing and managing ICT Service Management practices, including the establishment of Minor
  • Enhancement pipeline process.
  • Experience supporting complex, integrated ICT systems in a multi-provider environment.
  • ITIL Foundation qualification or equivalent knowledge
  • Project Management in PMBOK, Prince2, SCRUM or Agile, or equivalent experience
