To continue delivering our vision we are seeking a qualified Work Health and Safety Lead to provide strategic direction and leadership across the City to ensure the safety, health and welfare of City employees and operational worksites.

Reporting to the General Manager Corporate Services, this position will support the City by:

  • Providing strategic and operational leadership to enhance the City’s work health and safety culture through the implementation of an effective Work Health and Safety Management System.
  • Leading a team of WHS and Injury Management Advisors to effectively manage the City’s WHS and injury management systems.
  • Working with City stakeholders to develop and implement safety strategies and initiatives.

Extensive knowledge of the Western Australian Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984, the Western Australian Workers Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981, the proposed Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and accompanying Regulations and Codes of Practice are all required in this position.

The successful applicant will have significant experience in leading WHS and injury management teams, together with significant experience in developing and continuously improving organisational safety culture.

Extensive experience in developing and implementing WHS systems is essential.

Demonstrated ability to provide expert guidance to management and executive leadership teams on all WHS and injury management issues is crucial to your success in this position. You will have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including effective negotiation, consultation, presentation and facilitation skills.
