Position Information
Mary Brooksbank School is a leader in quality education for 107 students with a moderate or severe intellectual disability aged from 4 to 18 years (K-12). Many students have multiple disabilities including autism, physical disabilities and complex challenging behaviours. Students from Mary Brooksbank School come from varied backgrounds including 55% non-English speaking background, 16% Aboriginal heritage, low socio-economic status and children and young people who live in out of home care.

Selection Criteria

  1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience in teaching students with moderate or severe intellectual disability, physical disability, challenging behaviours, autism spectrum disorders and mental health diagnosis.
  2. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and monitor personalised learning plans, behaviour support plans, health care plans and other plans to support individual student needs.
  3. Well developed interpersonal and team skills with the ability to work collaboratively with families, external agencies and inter school teams to enhance unity, student wellbeing and learning outcomes.
  4. Knowledge and skills to support the planning and implementation of whole-school literacy, numeracy and student communication programs.

Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
