Job Description

Location: Administration Building
Work Type: Fixed Term - Full Time

Fixed term for up to one year, parental leave

Full-time (average of 38 hours per week)

As part of the Community Support and Safety Services team, you will be expected to:

  • Research, design, coordinate and evaluate innovative community safety and wellbeing projects in line with relevant strategies and plans.
  • Identify and foster appropriate partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders that lead to sustainable relationships to enhance community safety and wellbeing.
  • Guide, support and assist community groups, organisations and individuals to build their capacity and resilience through the provision of training, resources, programs and services relating to community safety, crime prevention, community connection and wellbeing.

You are an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who understands the ethos of community capacity building in relation to the development and implementation of targeted community programs. You possess strong written and verbal communication skills which enables you to develop partnerships and communicate with people across a diverse range of needs and backgrounds.

You understand community safety and capacity building principles within a local government community development setting. You have the ability to conduct evidence based research to develop relevant programs to address community needs and emerging trends. You enjoy working as part of team, display initiative and are organised and time conscious with your work.

To be considered for this role, you must address the following selection criteria as part of your online application:

  1. Degree in Community Development, Social Science or related field and/or relevant experience in Community Development or related field.
  2. Current C class drivers licence.
  3. Working with children check
  4. Sound knowledge of Community Development / Crime Prevention / Capacity Building principles, theory and practice
  5. High level of communication and networking skills including the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships/
  6. Sound experience of event management and delivery.
