About the role

Mornington Peninsula Shire’s, Child and Family Health Service, currently has a permanent part time vacancy for a suitably qualified Maternal and Child Health Nurse to join the Enhanced MCH team. The service is focused on achieving improved outcomes for infants, children and their families who are experiencing a period of increased need and who would benefit from targeted actions and interventions

Job tasks & responsibilities

  • Specifically, the position is required to:
  • Strengthen family functioning by providing in-home support for families experiencing vulnerabilities
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver a high-quality family support service which focuses on early intervention, family strengthening initiatives and community connectedness.
  • Participate in a team approach to the provision of an effective, efficient, and accountable Child and Family Health Service.
  • Deliver service in line with the Enhanced Maternal and Child Health Service State Guidelines (2018) and the Mornington Peninsula Enhanced Maternal and Child Health Service Program Logic.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency as a registered Nurse Division 1 and Registered Midwife
  • Tertiary qualifications in Child, Family and Community Health Nursing or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills with knowledge of the Child Development Information System (CDIS).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Maternal and Child Health Nurse is desirable
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Maternal and Child Health Key Ages and Stages Framework and an understanding of program Standards and Guidelines
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Enhanced Maternal and Child Health Program Guidelines (DET 2018)
  • Working knowledge and understanding of MARAM and the Information Sharing Schemes.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver a flexible and innovative Maternal and Child Health Service
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative working relationships with child and family services/agencies.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience working with infants/children and their families with diverse and complex needs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of child development and the factors that can impact this development.
  • Awareness of the diverse social, cultural and religious backgrounds of children and families.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Children Youth and Families Act 2005, and Information Sharing legislation
