Job Description

An exciting opportunity is available for a Head of Department (Curriculum) to join the team at Currimundi Special School on a permanent, full-time basis. As the Head of Department (Curriculum), the successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop and implement innovative teaching and learning for students with a disability. You will be responsible for the implementation of Australian curriculum for students from P-10, including Highly individualised curriculum.

About the school

Currimundi Special School is located in the North Coast Region on the Sunshine Coast just north of Caloundra. The school draws its student population from Maroochydore and Buderim in the north, to Caloundra and Pelican Waters in the south and as far west as the communities of Landsborough and Beerwah. We are proud to be a Queensland State Special School that provides learning experiences that are highly adapted and individualised for students with complex educational needs in a safe, supportive and caring environment. Our values and beliefs are strongly embedded in the elements of appropriate learning experiences that are meaningful and success orientated, in which we anticipate high but realistic expectations and opportunities for all students. We provide educational programs from Prep to Grade 12 for students residing from Maroochydore to Pelican Waters and west to Beerwah.

Your role

As the Head of Department (Curriculum) you will have responsibility for the following:

  • Lead curriculum focus in line with school and departmental initiatives
  • Develop and articulate a collective vision providing quality learning outcomes for all students including students working on Highly Individualised curriculum
  • Develop culture of high expectations in engaging students with a disability in learning and tracking and celebrating educational outcomes
  • Participate in delivering the vision of State Schools Division
  • Develop the quality of teaching and learning
  • Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.

The Head of Department (Curriculum) is accountable to and under the direction of the Principal or delegate.
