We are excited to offer two (2) School Based Traineeships for Cert II Civil Construction (First Nations Identified positions), commencing February 2022. One position will based in Tuncurry and one based in Taree.

These part-time Traineeships are your chance to combine your HSC studies with paid work and on-the job training with MidCoast Council, building strong foundational skills for your future.

You’ll gain practical skills such as safe operation of plant, equipment and tools while learning the intricacies of the construction and maintenance of road building, bridges and drainage.

While completing Years 11 and 12 at school, you will also attend TAFE Great Lakes Campus for a 3 day block each month and complete 144 days of on-the-job training from our Taree or Tuncurry depot.

The roles require that you:

  • Are a First Nations and/or Torres Strait Islander person
  • Genuinely want to start your career working in Civil Maintenance and Construction
  • Are willing to work in a range of diverse areas and working conditions outdoors
  • Are committed to learning about road building and a range of civil construction skills
  • Want to become an important part of a hard working team
  • Can demonstrate that you are a committed student and enthusiastic learner

This is a great opportunity to attain a Certificate II in Civil Construction as part of your HSC with a further pathway to Certificate III in Civil Construction.
