St Ives High School is a comprehensive coeducational high school with a current enrolment of approximately 1300 students.

Forty percent of students are from non-English speaking background and the gender balance is roughly two-thirds boys and one-third girls.

The school has a hearing support unit, a long-standing gifted and high potential program and a strong focus on technology, with a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program operating across all year groups.

The recent completion of major infrastructure project, has resulted in the development of an indoor two-court sports stadium and in 2019 the school's Creative And Performing Arts and Industrial Arts block underwent a major refurbishment.

The school's parent body has high expectations for student involvement and achievement. The school is held in high regard in the community and was ranked 111th in the 2020 HSC examination results.

Selection Criteria

  • Approval to teach Stage 6 Information Processes and Technology (IPT).
  • Willingness to teach Stage 4 Technology Mandatory within the syllabus context area of Digital Technologies and Stage 5 Information and Software Technology (IST).
  • Evidence of effective classroom practice that includes the ability to cater for students with a diverse range of learning needs through differentiated curriculum, classroom management and integration of technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative member of the TAS faculty.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with the capacity to initiate and build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the wider school community.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
