Scone High School is situated in the Upper Hunter Valley of NSW and is a comprehensive, secondary school with an enrolment of 345 students, of which 13% are Aboriginal.

The school community is highly committed to Visible Learning and Visible Wellbeing practices, with a very strong link with a cross-sectoral community of schools across the Upper Hunter.

The school is creating opportunities for students to fulfil their potential both within the school learning environment and increasing work & leisure opportunities in the wider community.

The school has a growing specialist support unit, consisting of two Multi-Categorical classes and one Emotional Disturbance class which has been established in 2021.

These classes are rapidly integrating across the curriculum and also into the community and cater for students with a range of support needs.

Selection Criteria

  • Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience teaching students with Mental Health needs, Emotion Disturbance, Behavior Difficulties, Mild Intellectual Disabilities, Autism and other complex support and learning needs.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work in positive partnerships with students, staff, families, external providers and the wider community.
  • Ability to provide personalized learning opportunities for a variety of needs across the whole school community.


An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
