About the Opportunity
Moree Plains Shire Council now has an exciting opportunity for a HR Officer (Return to Work/ Health and Wellbeing) to join their team in Moree, Northern NSW, approximately 1.5 hours drive from the Queensland border. This is a full-time role, working approx. 35 hours a week.
Reporting to the HR Manager, this is a highly varied role that will see you providing general HR support and advice, with a focus on return to work and health/wellbeing activities, such as assisting with the development of systems that promote a healthy work environment. You will also be facilitating the effective rehabilitation of ill or injured workers of Moree Plains Shire Council in order to minimise the impact of injuries on the Workers Compensation Insurance premium.

About You
To be considered for this position you will need demonstrated experience in a fast-paced and diverse Human Resources environment, with a relevant qualification Human Resources, Work Health and Safety, Industrial Relations or similar. You will also need to hold a Work Cover Return to Work and Advanced Return to Work Co-ordinator Certificate, or be able and willing to obtain this within your initial 6 months of employment.
A patient and empathetic communicator, you will be able to work with and support staff at all levels, and be committed to confidentiality and sensitivity.
You'll have the emotional intelligence needed to build and maintain positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, building trust and acting with compassion, particularly when dealing with people who are injured, in chronic pain or dealing with mental health issues.
Highly organised, you'll be well-versed at juggling multiple priorities at once, with great time management and exceptional attention to detail.
A certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment, and experience in the delivery of internal training and induction, would be highly regarded, however applicants who do not hold this qualification may be considered. A lower salary may be applicable in such instance, in line with the provisions of Council’s Salary System.
Please Note: A current, manual 'C' Class Driver's License is a requirement of this position.
