About the Position

Our Fleet department provides fit for purpose equipment to enable City employees to provide effective service to the Community. Team members within the Fleet department work alongside their team leaders and site supervisors in an environment made up of Drivers, Operators and Construction staff. We are currently seeking expressions of interest from skilled Earthmoving Plant Operators to provide service to our internal and external customers.

Responsibilities and duties of these types of role include, but are not limited to: 

• Operation of council earthmoving equipment in a safe and efficient manner
• The delivery of cost-effective fleet and plant solutions for internal council service providers in a safe and efficient manner
• Transportation of earthmoving equipment to sites across the city
• Recording operator maintenance, risk assessment, fatigue management of Council's heavy plant and equipment
• Performing administrative duties such as answering telephones, two-way radios, work orders, logbooks, incident reports, assisting in the allocation office and routine paperwork
• From time to time, assisting other council staff and contractors on site. This may entail manual labouring and the use of hand tools.
• Maintaining a high level of customer service by liaising with relevant project supervisors regarding the safe and efficient employment of plant and equipment on job sites
• Performing other duties, as directed from time to time by the Heavy Plant Supervisor, provided that such tasks are within the competency of the nominated role

About You

Team members in the Fleet department will:

• Have the ability to think laterally and apply problem-solving techniques and develop and implement solutions
• Have the ability to work productively in a team environment and foster good relationships with other team members
• Be able to deliver high-quality service to customers (internal/external) and understand and react responsively to customer expectations
