The Role

The Town of Port Hedland (Town) is currently seeking to create a pool of suitably experienced and motivated Aquatic Lifeguards in order to deliver exceptional services to the community of Port Hedland.

Applicants will be selected from this pool to undertake one or a number of roles across South Hedland Aquatic Centre, Marquee Park Splash and Play Park and Gratwick Aquatic Centre.

These roles contribute to the effective and efficient operation of the aquatic facilities and the maintenance of Water Park, which may include:

  • Provide safe and effective supervision of the swimming pools and aquatic features
  • Deliver a high level of customer service and professionalism
  • Provide emergency response and first aid
  • Maintain the facility in a safe, clean, hygienic and presentable condition for all customers to enjoy

This pool recruitment process will remain active for a period of three months.

Work Related Requirements

Successful applicants will need to demonstrate the following experience, qualifications and skills including:

  • Current RLSSWA Pool Lifeguard accreditation
  • Current Senior First Aid qualification
  • Current CPR certification including use of oxygen and defibrillator
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Current National Police Clearance
  • Excellent customer service
  • Ability to communicate clearly, actively listen to others and respond effectively
  • Flexible availability, as some early morning, midday and weekend shifts are required
  • Evidence of up to date TGA approved COVID-19 Vaccinations or exemption

Other Conditions

Integrity and pre-employment checks will be conducted if the recommended applicant for this position is not a current Town employee.
