FAR NORTH QUEENSLAND... There’s no place like it! We invite applications from dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated primary teachers with an interest in joining our district relief pools across the region. District Relief Teachers (DRT's) provide internal relief to their cluster of schools. This varied role will suit experienced teachers who are comfortable working with students across all primary years from Prep to Year Six including some multi-age classes. DRT roles are currently available across the region.

Welcome to Far North Region school (District Relief Teacher) locations.

Far North Queensland Region is seeking interest from multiple District Relief Teachers to join motivated teams in various school locations.     

Some travel will be required to supply a Teacher Relief service to schools within local clusters and the successful teacher/s will be able to teach across year levels from Prep to Year 6 with some multi-age classes. 

What is a District Relieving Teacher?  

As a District Relief Teacher (DRT) you will be employed by a base school and are available to work across nominated schools within a cluster of host schools, to cover unexpected short-term absences.  The DRT is a flexible position that can change from day to day to meet the needs of the individual schools in the cluster.

Workers in education settings, including schools, early childhood and care services (such as kindergartens and childcare centres) or Outside School Hours Care, are required to have received the prescribed number of doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS

All Queensland State Schools are allocated a transfer rating which is determined by the remoteness or distance of the location from a major city and services. While the base salary range for teachers is the same across the state; rural, remote and even regional locations provide additional financial benefits and incentives that are above and beyond the base salary.

  • Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland.
