The City of Gold Coast’s Major Sporting Venues (MSV) unit are taking expressions of interest for Casual Traffic Attendant roles to build our pool of Casual Traffic Attendants.

About the Position
MSV are seeking additional Casual Traffic Attendants to assist in the management of Car Park operations during peak periods and events, as required. We are looking for a small pool of people with a commitment to safety, who can support the Venue Duty Managers to ensure patrons visiting our venues during busy times are provided the best possible customer service and experience.

The successful candidates will mostly be requested to work during events hosted within the Gold Coast Sports Precinct, but on occasion, may also be asked to work across other venues including Coomera Indoor Sports Centre.

Key Deliverables of the position
The Casual Traffic Attendant (TA) positions are an operational role responsible for safely and efficiently directing cars into the allocated parking areas within the Precinct. The parking requirements could be different for each event and each Patron entering the Precinct will need to be directed to the correct area, in a timely manner.

Below are some of the key responsibilities:

• Ensure pedestrian safety
• Be aware of the events and traffic plan of the day and where patrons can park within their allocated areas
• On AFL Game days, the duty of the TA’s is to maintain the integrity of the carparks until the traffic management plan for the Precinct comes into play
• Assist in parking cars appropriately to ensure spaces are utilised to their maximum potential
• Ensure only vehicles with the correct accreditation or approvals park in the allocated areas
• Following traffic exiting procedures, including directing cars to exit while holding cars for buses, who have right of way in exiting the Precinct
• Keep your calm and work well under pressure, providing outstanding customer service levels at all times, under all conditions
• Sound knowledge and implementation of appropriate Work Health and Safety practices, including use of required uniform, Personal Protective Equipment and allocated equipment (traffic control lighting wand and radio)
• Take direction from your supervisor and maintain your site-specific position unless unsafe to do so. Traffic Attendants are not permitted to direct traffic on any public or external roads
• Kindly advise patrons that access to the drop off zone is drive through only and move them along where required
• Being approachable for all staff and clients to liaise with and handling of customer complaints and queries in a professional and diplomatic manner
• Ability to work autonomously and be confident in using sound judgement, being stern and acting quickly when required

If successful, you will need to be available on an ad-hoc basis across our venue's operating hours. Availability during nights and weekends is essential. Our events can range from sporting tournaments to expos and other activities, and shifts are dependent on bookings/event schedules.

You will also have the following:

• Be physically fit and capable of working on your feet for long periods
• A current unrestricted driver's license.
• Ability to work under pressure and make decisions to deal with the unexpected. E.g. Evacuate Patrons during a Fire Alarm
