Assistant Principal, The Oaks Public School

The Oaks Public School is situated in the middle of The Oaks township, a semi-rural setting, 14 kilometres from Camden. The school has a current population of 302 students. The surrounding area is rich grazing land subdivided into larger and smaller acreages with an existing local residential area that is currently being extended into large building blocks of quarter acres.

The Oaks Public School is part of the Rural Access Gap which is a commitment to ensure rural, regional, and remote schools are brought up to the digital equivalent of their metropolitan counterparts.

The Rural Access Gap Infrastructure Rollout is a key component of the RAG program.

Selection Criteria

• In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with demonstrated capability to balance exemplary classroom teaching practice with the complex responsibilities of a school leadership position.
• Proven ability to inspire, build capacity in others and lead early career and experienced teachers to create a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and high expectations, using data driven practices to guide and inform differentiated teaching to meet the learning needs of every child.
• Demonstrate high level of emotional intelligence and superior interpersonal skills to best meet the diverse wellbeing needs of students, staff and the wider community to build upon a positive and inclusive school culture that ensures every student is known, valued and cared for.

General Selection Criteria

• Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
• Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
• Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
• Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
• Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
• Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
