Charleville (pop - 3,400) sits at the major cross-roads of the Diamantina Developmental Road, and the Warrego and Mitchell Highways. The home of some truly unique outback experiences ranging from the Bilby Experience to the WWII Secret Base, the rural town and locality is approximately 750 kilometres west of Brisbane. There are flights 6 days a week to and from Brisbane, access to excellent medical care, sporting groups (squash, tennis, touch football, 2 gyms, netball, rugby league) instrumental music, creative sewing and arts groups, dance for children and adults and other strong community groups.
Charleville School of Distance Education is a P-10 school based in Charleville and our Junior Secondary team works across the three Western schools of distance education in an Alliance. Students complete units of work, participate in daily on-air lessons and communicate through email and web-based ‘classrooms' with their peers and teachers. Students also have the opportunity to participate in face to face field events such as camps, Minischool Weeks, Cluster Musters and Swim and Sports Musters allowing for assessment, socialisation and enhanced teaching and learning.This opportunity could provide a pathway to permanency, the experience of living in a vibrant community, with access to primary schools, high school and Kindy and childcare.
