Kurri Kurri High School is set in the semi-rural area of the Hunter Valley. It is a proud local high school that has serviced the local area since 1956. Many families have generational patronage to the high school and strong local links to community continue to offer opportunities to students.
80 staff support the school with the academic, social and emotional development of the young people in our care. The school has a population of 922 and has 7 support classes in Kuta Kaya.
The school has a dedicated Study Centre that services the 170 students who proudly identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander.
The school's motto is 'creating futures'. The unique nature of the school architecture centres around the creation of three distinct villages for each stage. HUB learning, global citizenship and future pathways define the stages of learning as the blue print for student learning.
The school has a 'Studio School' that works in partnership with Big Picture Education Australia to create a new blueprint for schooling.
Kurri Kurri High School is a BYOD school with a strong digital landscape with the use of CANVAS to shape online, blended and flexible learning opportunities.
Student agency through SRC, Interact and Junior AECG help to make the decisions of the school in improvements and ways of thinking, learning and working.
Kuta-kaya (Support Faculty) comprises of : ED, IM, IO, AU and three MC classes. Four pathways of learning are provided to our students to support them to reach their absolute learning, life and social/emotional potential: Life Skills, Transition, Big Picture Design and Mainstream.
Kuta-kaya a dynamic and future focussed faculty that forms strong partnerships with our students, parents/carers, community and student support services.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
From 8 November 2021 all Department of Education employees undertaking relevant work, including any work conducted on a NSW school site, will be required to meet mandatory double vaccination requirements against COVID-19.
