About the Position

City Laws Approval Officers work within the City Laws section of the Health and Regulatory Services Branch. The City Laws Approval Officer is responsible for assessing and managing applications and approvals for a range of activities on Council managed land such as Film/TV Production, Roadside Dining, Busking, Fitness Providers, Surf Schools and Beach Vehicles. 

Key deliverables of the position:

• Assess a diverse range of applications and issue approvals/refusals within required timeframes.
• Interpret relevant legislation and local law criteria as part of the approval process.
• Research information, input data and prepare relevant documentation in an efficient manner.
• Consult with and provide advice to a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. 

About you:

• You have experience interpreting legislation and practices to determine an appropriate course of action and make recommendations for approvals/refusals.
• You can build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• You are a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• You have the ability to prepare quality reports and correspondence with recommendations.
• You are a reliable self-starter who is able to prioritise workload and deliver on time.
• You want to work in a collaborative, vibrant and busy team.
• You possess a current C Class Drivers Licence.
