Position Information
Dapto High School has a growing enrolment; 1023 students, including 89 Aboriginal students. We are proudly inclusive; a comprehensive school servicing a community on the edge of formidable change.
A new city of West Dapto is being built to our south and west. A very stable, hardworking staff is actively engaged with the challenges of good learning and teaching in the 21st century. Covidian challenges have sharpened our focus on ICT and mental health.
An active Parents & Citizens' Association, Student Representative Council and school executive are key participants in our strategic responses to change. Environmental sustainability, the integration of technology into teaching/learning and collaborative action to address School Improvement Plan priorities are key focus areas.
This position is for an English teacher. Drama training valued, but not necessary for this position.
Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach English (7-10), Approval to teach English (11-12), well as approval and/or willingness to teach Drama.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and a demonstrated capacity to contribute collaboratively to quality faculty, cross-curricular, and whole-school programs that align with the School Improvement Plan.
- Demonstrated experience in developing inclusive teaching practises that focuses on explicit teaching and formative assessment that has resulted in an upward shift of student data.
- Willingness to teach ICT and Public Speaking.
- Evidenced commitment and practises to the improvement of Aboriginal and Torres
- Strait Islander students' educational outcomes.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
