How you’ll make a difference

Alpine Shire Council seeks temporary staff to work between its Porepunkah, Myrtleford and Mount Beauty Transfer Stations. To achieve success in this role, high standard customer service combined with knowledge of best practice guidelines in waste management is required.

  • We are a dynamic value-based organisation
  • Weekend and public holiday work will be required (Staff must be available to work at any of the three sites on weekends as well as weekdays)  

Join our team to

  • Provide a high-quality customer service to Transfer Station customers
  • Maximize the amount of recyclable material diverted from the waste stream to recycling
  • Assist in the operation of the Transfer Station in accordance with Council requirements and best practice guidelines

Our ideal candidate

  • Experience using an iPad, understanding of basic IT and experience in emails.
  • Demonstrated capacity to provide good customer service/public relations skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion in carrying out responsibilities within established procedures and guidelines.
  • Capacity to explain disposal procedures to customers to ensure customers unload materials in correct locations, to minimise contamination of recyclable material.
  • Cash handling experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete customer transactions, reconcile fees collected and perform banking duties.
  • A front loader license would be advantageous.
  • Flexibility in working hours (including weekend and public holiday shifts)
