Melville High School is located on Dunghutti land in the Macleay Valley serving approximately 600 students with a student Aboriginal population of over 30%.

It is a comprehensive, coeducational school, with a strong focus on student growth and achievement, quality teaching, restorative practices and wellbeing. Opportunities are provided in academic, sporting, cultural, creative and technological learning areas and programs to develop social and employment skills are a focus.

In 2021 Melville High School joined the Connected Communities Strategy which aims to improve outcomes for Aboriginal students and therefore all students.

Selection Criteria

  • Approval to teach Mathematics (Years 7-10) and Mathematics (Years 11-12).
  • Approval and/or willingness to teach Mathematics Extensions 1 & 2.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging, challenging and differentiated programs to meet diverse student learning and wellbeing needs.
  • Ability to implement effective research-based teaching that improves numeracy outcomes for students.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department of Education’s Aboriginal Education Policies and capacity to improve outcomes for Aboriginal students.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
