The Opportunity
A rewarding role where you will be responsible for the delivery of Aboriginal studies, programs and languages, qualifications across the West Region. Ideally you will have the capacity to travel to work out of our Aboriginal Learning Centres at the Orange, Dubbo and/or Tamworth campuses.
The role of the Head Teacher involves a broad range of activities which directly and indirectly support learning through the delivery of educational programs. This will require you to work as part of a team providing a professional and effective teaching service and to communicate effectively with the administration and other sections of TAFE.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, this role will have specific responsibilities for monitoring program delivery, guiding and coordinating the development of resources, and the mentoring and guidance of teaching staff. You will also be required to work collaboratively with internal and external Aboriginal stakeholders.
To be successful in this role you must have:
1. An appropriate technical or professional qualification at Diploma level or above, and vocational and or industrial experience, to teach in one of the principal areas supervised by the head teacher position e.g. Aboriginal Languages and/or Aboriginal Studies. Qualifications in Education and Community Services would be considered.
2. Evidence of successful completion of an approved program of teacher education, or evidence of successful completion of an acceptable teaching qualification.
Current AQF Level 5 or higher qualification in Vocational Education and Training (VET) and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. AQF Level 5 could include the following: Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (TAE50116) or Diploma of Training, Design and Development (TAE50216).
In addition, applicants must hold the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40110 with the two additional units) or a Diploma in VET or Adult Education or equivalent.
