$118,318 per annum plus super.
Full-time, permanent.

The City is looking for an experienced Principal Statutory Planner to join our Planning and Economic Development team to administer effectively and lawfully the City’s Planning Schemes and various policies, and guidelines. The position plays a pivotal supporting role that enables the City to meet its strategic vision and statutory planning responsibilities and sustain an efficient and effective planning service delivery model based on excellent customer focus and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Alliance Manager Development Approvals, this position will support the City by:

  • Effectively leading a high-performing Statutory Planning Team to accurately and efficiently process minor to very complex development applications, referrals and all other planning-related enquiries, on time and within budget.
  • Supporting and supervising staff, setting performance objectives, identifying development needs, tracking performance and providing coaching and support that aligns with the needs of the Unit and the organisation.
  • Assisting the Alliance Manager with business planning, monitoring and reporting, in continuously reviewing and improving the Unit’s practices, procedures and systems to ensure legislative compliance and to achieve gains in productivity and customer service and in the day-to-day functions and activities of the unit.

To succeed in this role, you will need highly developed communication skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships including through collaboration, liaison and negotiation skills.
