About the Opportunity

Based in Dalby, you will be responsible for ensuring Local Laws issues, regulatory parking, and Animal Management Services are dealt with in compliance with Government Legislation, Council corporate plan goals and industry best practice.             

Reporting to the Local Laws Supervisor, you will:

  • undertake robust, rigorous and detailed investigations of alleged offences and applications for permits under Council's Local Laws;
  • manage and maintain animal impounding facilities to provide a high level of care for impounded animals; and
  • participate in and deliver promotional and educational activities to the community in relation to local laws, animal management laws, parking regulation. 

About yourself

The successful applicant will:

  • hold a Certificate IV in an investigatory or animal management discipline or related discipline;
  • have a minimum of 12 months experience as a Local Laws Officer or relevant experience in a similar role;
  • have interpersonal skills to negotiate, persuade, inform, resolve, and interact effectively at all levels (internal and external);
  • have experience in undertaking investigations of alleged offences and be able to interpret relevant legislation;
  • have a current 'C' Class Driver's Licence (essential);
  • hold a relevant gun licence or willingness and ability to obtain; and
  • be willing to participate in an on-call roster, which includes some weekend work.

It is strongly recommended that applicants are fully vaccinated (received 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine recognised by the Therapeutic Goods Administration or as determined by Queensland Health (Public Health Direction)).
