Located in the heart of the resource rich Surat Basin, the region has a diversified energy portfolio with five pillars of energy generation: Coal, Gas, Ethanol, Wind and Solar cementing our reputation as the Energy Capital of Queensland.
Not just solar and sorghum the Western Downs is famous for its unique, large-scale events with Council hosting Opera at Jimbour and the Big Skies Festival, adding to the region’s five other major festivals.
