Details: Access Canberra’s temporary employment register will be used to fill temporary Customer Service or General Administration vacancies as they arise. Vacancies will typically be for periods of six weeks to three months although on occasions shorter or longer-term opportunities may also arise (up to 12 months).
Duties will include but not limited to providing high-quality customer service through a range of channels, including electronic/digital, telephone and/or face to face, data entry and the creation and updating of records, assisting in the resolution of complaints and enquiries, processing various applications and receiving and receipting of public monies.
Pathway 1 – Customer Service Positions in this pathway will generally be located in the Access Canberra Service Centres, Contact Centre, Land Titles, Land Planning and Building and Complaints Management teams. However, positions may also be available in other areas of Access Canberra from time to time.
Pathway 2 - General Administration Roles in this pathway will involve the administration of many pieces of legislation covering a range of industries within the ACT, including construction, environment protection, working with vulnerable people, fair trading, gaming, racing, births, deaths and marriages, liquor, dangerous substances, community, industry, and traders licencing, and transport and the making of decisions on a variety of applications on a daily basis. Some positions include the provision of general administrative support in areas such as finance, HR, training, and workplace safety to all of Access Canberra.

Citizenship – To be eligible for temporary employment you must be in Australia on a visa with unconditional working rights or be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
Security checks – All new employees to the ACT Government are required to undergo an Australian Federal Police criminal history check. The check assists Access Canberra in determining the suitability of applicants for employment.
Previous employment check – Access Canberra may contact applicants’ past or present employers in order to obtain background information about their suitability for employment.
