The role

Our award-winning leisure centre, Beatty Park, is looking for a competent and motivated Lifeguard to join our close and customer-focused team.

Key duties of the role will include:

• Public safety: supervise public use of the facility, attend to any first aid cases, conduct water tests, and attend regular in-service training sessions.
• Programming: set up and dismantle, as well as ensure safety and security, of equipment for programs
• Customer Service: Provide a high level of internal and external customer service and comply with the Council’s Customer Service Charter
• Occupational Safety and Health: ensure that work area is maintained in a safe, clean, and tidy condition, so that risk of accidents occurring is reduced to a minimum and exercise a duty of care regarding own safety and that of others.

The candidate

You are a strong swimmer with the fitness ability to endure real and/or test ‘rescue swims. Previous experience working in a leisure centre environment is highly regarded and the following qualifications/tickets are essential: Pool Lifeguard Award or equivalent, Senior First Aid Certificate, Resuscitation Certificate and Oxygen Training. A Pool Management Certificate will be highly regarded but not essential.

The successful candidate will be available to work a range of shifts including weekends. We are also looking for individuals who can show initiative, the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and a friendly “can-do” attitude with a strong customer service ethic.
