Gathering Place Development Officer

• Salary Band 5 $72,168 - $83,699 plus + 10.5% Superannuation 
• Temporary position until June 30 2024, 0.8  FTE 
• Located at St Kilda Town Hall

The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more. About the Role

The City of Port Phillip is seeking a Gathering Place Development Officer to support the self-determination of the local aboriginal community through leadership development and co-design activities centred around aboriginal gathering, programming and events.

This is an indigenous identified position and development role, meaning that successful candidate will be supported to develop and refine their skills and knowledge over the course of the appointment.

Duties:

• To work with the local Indigenous community and services to maintain awareness of community needs
• Provide hands on support to the co-design group providing advice on Reconciliation planning 
• To work with community in supporting opportunities for social gathering
• to encourage leadership opportunities of local Aboriginal community members 

Skills and Experience 

• Understanding of, and involvement working with Aboriginal people
• Experience in maintaining networks \\with stakeholders
• Able to support community engagement, local leadership, and co-design
• Experiencing in preparing information for community.
