Water Operations - 1 x Taree and 1 x Tuncurry

You may not have thought of the Water Industry before, but as an essential service, this is a career pathway that will always be in demand.  

You'll work with teams that deliver high quality water to our homes and businesses, and collect and transfer waste water for treatment.   A typical working day for you would involve learning on the job and working alongside highly experienced and skilled operators doing:

  • Water main repairs and valve replacements
  • Sewer Pump Station maintenance, clearing of sewer blockages and extension of existing sewer mains
  • Responding to emergency situations such as water main breaks to ensure minimal impact to our community
  • Introduction to our telemetry/Scada systems to understand and diagnose issues within water and waste water networks
  • And getting some further experience with Water and Waste Water Network Construction and Water and Waste Water Treatment teams

Upon successful completion of your Traineeship, you'll have a nationally recognised qualification in Certificate III Water Industry Operations (NWP30219) and the experience you need to create a lasting Career pathway in a specialised field within the Water industry.

The package:  You will be paid in accordance with the Traineeship pay scale as outlined in the Local Government (State) Award 2020 plus superannuation.

Location: The successful applicant will be required to rotate throughout various depots located within the Water Services Network (Tuncurry/Taree/Bootawa Laboratory). You may also be required to be based from other Council sites.

Tenure: Full Time (24 month Fixed Term)
