Job Description

The Coordinator Work Health & Safety is responsible for the implementation, ongoing maintenance and improvement of the City work heath & safety system and practices. This position shall be a critical role and will contribute to effective safety, health and wellbeing planning and performance management across the City.

Key accountabilities:

  • Provide leadership, guidance and direction to the Work Health & Safety (WHS)
  • Advise and assist City employees in the implementation of the City’s WHS policies, procedures and processes to support compliance with relevant OS&H legislation and other requirements.
  • Oversee and lead the implementation of the City’s WHS Management System and Plan
  • Foster and develop a WHS culture across the organisation in line with best practice in Local Government and relevant industry sectors.

Position requirements:

  • Degree in Work Health & Safety or relevant field and substantial experience or lesser qualification with extensive experience
  • Advanced Diploma in Leadership and Management or lesser qualification with extensive experience
  • Extensive diverse experience in the practical application of WHS processes in a variety of work settings, including the conduct of inspections, audits, risk assessments, accident/incident investigations, tool box meetings, contractor and volunteer management and training and advising internal stakeholders

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary starting from $101,490 per annum or $51.3611 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
