Job Description

An opportunity exists for a highly motivated, passionate and enthusiastic Head of Department (Curriculum) to join the cutting-edge team at Wandoan State School P-10. This position will be temporary, commencing in term 4, 2022 and may continue into 2023. About the Town

Wandoan (population 600) is a small rural town and locality in the Western Downs Region on the Leichhardt Highway about halfway between Taroom and Miles. The town's economy is traditionally based on agriculture, including wheat, sorghum and cattle. The townscape is visually dominated by the grain silos near the railway station. However, mining for coal and gas are growing industries, increasing the population and facilities in Wandoan.

Wandoan State School is a vibrant and progressive P-10 school, which is built on traditions and history over more than 100 years of schooling. About the Role

Your role As the Head of Department (Curriculum), you will have responsibility for the following:

  • Lead the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Deliver upon the strategic focus of the school and leadership team as well as delivering specific KPIs.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
  • Be futures oriented and strategic.
  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
  • Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the curriculum areas or whole school program to achieve goals.
