Maroon Outdoor Education Centre is a unique educational facility operated by the Queensland Department of Education offering 3-5 day residential outdoor education programs to students from Queensland schools.
Located 20km south of Boonah, Maroon OEC employs a range of teachers and support staff to provide a high quality learning environment for students.
Teachers are required to provide facilitated learning through the use of high challenge, camping, expedition, canoeing and group problem solving activities. Maroon OEC teachers work extended hours, including regular night and overnight programs. Maroon OEC negotiates a time-off in lieu agreement with teachers.
Applicants must be eligible for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers and apply to the Queensland Department of Education for teacher employment.

Selection Criteria
• Ability to apply appropriate knowledge in order to plan and prepare teaching and learning in an outdoor education context
• Knowledge of and the ability to implement effective and inclusive teaching and learning processes in a range of outdoor pursuits
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and the ability to plan and apply appropriate risk management strategies that contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment.

  • Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland.   • Persons who reside in Australia and have permission or a right to be granted permission, under Commonwealth law, to remain in Australia indefinitely.
  • New Zealand citizens who have a special category visa or a right to be granted a special category visa under the Migration Act 1958.
